By Saurin Canon has some fantastic optics for scanning photos. It is the Epson. I wanted to scan photos now and then and maybe old archive photos, optical image was so important. Canon, known for great digital cameras, has the same quality scanners. Why in 3170? It is half the price, smaller (about 1 / 3 high) sees and looks great. It is about four 4x6 photos on the scanner, dpi with the multi-scan with 600 and works very well. However, sometimes I think the auto-crop could be better. It took a whole 5 minutes to configure and use. He did not need a separate power supply because it uses USB for power. Its quiet and fast. I've done over 600 scans so far. Works like a charm. It's so fast, I can around 75 100 images per hour scan! 51 of 51 customers found this review helpful. The "best" entry level scanner copier almost by accident substitutes Staff Writer I am a private user, not affiliated Cannon. This is an excellent product, which I hope will last for many years. The scanner and software are a great value for money. While this is not a full blown professional scanner is great for what was done to: get the data printed on your computer for quick, easy and inexpensive, while the replacement somehow a copy machine and do some graphics work. The included software allows Toobox CanoScan scanner is not simple functions with ease. Copy Time and Quality: I love the copy directly to the print function. You can reduce and increase by 25% to 400%% or custom size. 75-300 dpi adjustment works well, but the function blocks 600 dpi my system is very slow and the files are too big for my taste, at least - an option for the driver of language HP HP PostScript printer driver too on my HP4500 color laser printer seems to have solved this problem. Copies are too quick for the most critical uses fast 150 dpi setting okay if something takes a text "blocked up" or "cool" look with fat edges 300 dpi, a normal appearance of the copy. A scan at 150 dpi in order to "copy" in color (color scan looks better, even for black and white images in my experience) takes about 15 seconds from start to decline on my print spooler. A 300 dpi takes about 30 seconds. Reasonable time for the cheapest home copier I've never actually checked, but not quickly. You must print your printer to add time to the total time to get to make a copy. Copy quality is almost up to a standard copier, but not quite, unless you maybe spend time tuning. There is a tendency to a light gray instead of white space at 150 dpi copy of that goes away on a 300 dpi copy seems to get. It can also be caused by a small bulb in this little verse scans of the larger bulbs in standard copier. As I said, with some adjustments in the software and 300 dpi usually goes away, but I just want to automatically copy without adjustment barrel buy a signed copy machine if that is what you need and informed me about being better than other brands at this time to "sell before the brake" garbage office products currently available in mass stores that sell office. File Size: Investigation of "copy" function is a jpg file is quite large and slow to print on some systems. I wish I could put jpg quality of my wishes to the speed and quality. Color 150 dpi get a decent, quick, scan to the printer for a quick copy function and size of about 5.6 megs, 300 dpi is half as fast (sense) and much larger in jpg (20-24 meg). The 24 meg is an impression of slow even on my HP 4500 color laser postscript. Exploration of the "File" (PDF) makes smaller files maybe only 10% of the JPG file size of the "copy" based on my experiences. PDF is more efficient. Jpg scan the file of the "e" function using a more compressed version of the jpg, which is a nice email variable image makes and allows you to limit
