After much research I had to find happiness, a photo scanner at the same time, the Epson Perfection V500 is now available. After scanning the first batch of 60 slides, I can highly recommend the unit. The most important capability of the device, especially for the price, which integrates technology ICE dust and scratch removal. It is, in a word, incredible. And, I saved many hours of extra work manually do the same work. There are no software-and dust in the Epson software included, but it is inefficient and can not be compared on the ice. I'm scanning at 2400 dpi, more than enough resolution for practical use other than heavy cropping and enlargement. I use compressed air "clean" the slides before scanning. When scanning with ICE turned off, the amazing amount of dust will be marked. Turn ICE and 98% of the dust is gone It will take more time to scan the ice, but the offset is the time saved many times it is not necessary to manually remove the powder post-scan. Photoshop Elements 4.0 included. I use Elements 6.0. So far, the device worked perfectly. The software installed on the first attempt itself. Maher, I just bought this scanner - primarily to scan my 1000 + slides. At first I was hesitant, because this model is brand new in the market, and I was worried inital bugs. But I know that Epson makes a good product, so I took the chance. And I'm glad I did. It has some excellent features: 1 Very easy to set up and operate it. I have scanned my first photo within 30 minutes after unpacking the package. No problem with the software and user's guide online is really easy to follow second Very fast scanning. The scan (including preview) of photos is unbelievably fast. But I was really surprised at the speed of scanning slides. A normal scan (without the use of Digital ICE correction) of 4 slides took less than 5 minutes. Compared with some other products I've read about this is the speed of light. 3rd Very quiet. When scanning photos, you can hardly hear. A little 'more noise when scanning slides, but certainly not annoying. 4 It is equipped with 3 modes to choose from - Auto, Home and Professional. The car is easier and gives a very good picture. Home and Professional offers a set of right moves (more with the professional mode). I'm an intermediate user of Photoshop and the professional function is as close as possible using an editing program that I've ever seen.
