For BBS, Bay Area, CA I installed this hardware on a new computer with Win'XP, so I had nothing that had to be removed. I chose the default installation does not, because I do not want the HP software, photo editing (I have Adobe Photoshop Elements and Photoshop Album) and have no use for the IRIS software to scanned documents into text files. The installation went well and my 35 mm slides, documents and tests were successful the first time. 35 mm slides scanned and can be assembled or disassembled. The scanner looks very simple to use and is a vast improvement over ten years of the scanner it replaces. Everything about the appearance of the scanner provides a high quality and so far I am very happy. The documentation that comes with the scanner is very limited, sufficient for the installation, but does not include any of the adjustable analysis parameters - you must go to the help files for 55 of 55 people found this review helpful. Very capable with a software design project Boogaloo curious - converting 800 slides in the family + Digital. After 100 to a photo lab (70! Ay!), Accidentally discovered today flatbed scanner 35 mm slide (and film strips) and gave him a chance with this HP. I am very happy with the results. **** 4.5 stars out of hardware features image when the software is mastered. He is very capable of producing results very satisfactory. *** 2.5 stars for the software of the image, which are both very capable and very annoying. The basic functions Flatbed scanning well. ********** Ten stars for the exploration of copies! It is impossible to distinguish between an original and scan at 600 dpi. Slide Project - Despite the volume, it was the five-image with good results very similar to a lab, it takes about one hour to 25 to 30 photos scanned at 600 dpi with activated basic color enhancements, including 6-color mode. The standard 300-dpi scan is faster but still takes 45 minutes. Forget the 1200 + dpi ... you get old and gray scanning five images with slightly better results. The large overhead Field / photos and select an image corrections. When finished, it takes about one minute. per image at 600 dpi. The software is a curious mix of goofy and high capacity and limitations. While the first preview scan to try to find each image, the screen is too small to waayy very helpful, but only by selecting the individual image for a larger preview re-scan. Oooofff ... time consuming. Why not simply zoom the preview first? Features pre-scan setting the crops are, brightness, contrast and correction of highly qualified and discrete selectable for each slide, but most of these functions on a file less post-scanning work at all It's why the preview is too small, can shock someone finiky About the best results. I found it effective to use other post-scan image for the final harvest, the JPEG compression and run a corrected-grain. Kodachrome slides nice scan of all ages. "Adaptive Lighting" gently corrects pre-scan global exposure during "restore faded colors" has a big task, the removal of color include infrared Ektachrome. The photo lab is not done! Not only do you get a single file for each slide, they can do the same with multiple documents. Anything that can fit on the bed of glass for individual files in a single scan are selected included a wide range of file formats for direct-to-PDF. Conclusion-It is definitely a better way to go, the quality of a large group of slides Practice with the software first, so enjoy those "Oldies but Goodies". I have posted sample scans the tag "Boogaloos Review", to include the software screens. 53 out of 55 people found this review helpful.
